GROUNDNUT OIL

The Cold Pressing Process

In the traditional process of making cold pressed groundnut oil, groundnuts or peanuts are first cleaned and sun dried thoroughly. The sun drying process has a major effect on the taste and quality of the resulting oil. The sun dried nuts are then pressed in a wood press or mara chekku until the process yields pure nut oil. The oil obtained after pressing the nuts is allowed to settle for up to four days in settling tanks. It is then filtered and packaged without adding any preservatives.

Benefits of Cold Pressing Groundnut Oil

  • Heating groundnut oil will change its molecular composition and creates carcinogenic free radicals, thus compromising its quality as well as taste.
  • Although groundnut oil is relatively more stable when heated as compared to most plant oils, cold pressing is the best process to yield nutritious and tasty groundnut oil.
  • Heated oils lose their nutrient profile and become rancid easily, whereas cold pressed oils last long while retaining their taste and nutritional value.
  • Consuming heated oils can lead your body odour and acne, which can be avoided by using cold pressed oil.

 Benefits of Groundnut Oil

  • Being completely devoid of cholesterol, groundnut oil is a great choice for a cooking oil to reduce the bad cholesterol level in your body.
  • Groundnut oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids that increase the level of good cholesterol, or HDL, in your body. It lowers the chances of stroke and helps you maintain good heart health.
  • The polyphenol antioxidants, such as resveratrol, in groundnut oil remove free radicals from the body and prevent a wide range of dangerous diseases such as cancer.
  • The resveratrol in groundnut oil interacts with the different hormones and neutralizes their effects, which reduce blood pressure and therefore minimizes stress on your cardiovascular system.
  • Groundnut oil is rich in vitamin E, which keeps your skin young and healthy.
  • It stimulates white blood cell production in the body and, therefore, improves the immune system.
